Em Hotep (In Peace) and welcome to my online Shrine. My name is MeritAset (Aset's Beloved One) and I am a Shemsu with the House of Netjer. I follow the path of Kemetic Orthodoxy which is a Traditional African Religion, following as closely as possible the religious ways of the Ancient Egyptians circa 4000 years ago. Obviously it is not EXACTLY the same as it was back then, but it has been pieced together using arhaeological evidence, oral tradition and other information to resemble as closely as possible, the religion of Ancient Kemet (Egypt). Kemet itself means "Black Land" and this refers to the fertile black soil that was in abundance when the Nile annually inundated the land.

I came to know Aset (Isis in Greek) many years ago as a child of about six years of age. My mother is an Egyptologist and my fascination and love for Egypt has spanned over 20 years. As I grew older and attended school, I became immersed in Ancient History, in particular Egypt and Greece. But Egypt was my true love and I excelled in it. I graduated High School with top marks in Ancient History because of this. As I became a young adult, my yearning for spiritual fulfillment topped my list of goals and became even more intense as I left high school to study at college and find my way in the "big bad world".

I drifted into Paganism, in particularly Wicca (in which I spent 10 years). But still I was not content. In 1998 I stumbled onto the House of Netjer site but it took me at least a year to get the courage up to approach them about joining a beginner's class to study Kemetic Orthodoxy. I have been a Shemsu for almost five years now and I have never looked back. I was divined a child of Aset and know in my heart She will never leave me, or let me forget Her!

As I have developed in my faith, I have started to explore my Gods. Aset is my Parent. Heru-Wer and NebtHet-Nit-Seshat are my Beloveds. I hope to venerate and honour Them all on this site.
